At the NANOCON´16 conference Dr. Ivan Škorvánek will present the invited lecture at the Session A: Nanomaterials for Electronic, Magnetic and Optic Applications. Carbon Nanostructures, Quantum Dots: "Advanced Nanocrystalline Magnetic Materials for Energy and Sensor Applications".

Education and Employment:
He received a M.S. degree in Physics of Condensed Matter from the Faculty of Science of the P.J. Šafarik University, Košice, Slovakia in 1982. It was followed by a doctoral study at the Institute of Experimental Physics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Košice (1983-1987). His Ph.D. degree was awarded by the Faculty of Science of the P.J. Šafarik University. He joined the Institute of Experimental Physics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Košice, Slovakia as a researcher in 1988. After his research stays at GKSS Gesearch Centre, Geesthacht, Germany (1991-92) and MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA (1993-94) he returned back to Slovakia where he established his own research group. He became a Chief Scientist of the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS in 1997. He is a head of the Nanomaterials and Applied Magnetism Laboratory at IEP SAS in Košice since 2008.

Research Interests:
Research activities of Dr. Škorvánek are focused on structural and magnetic properties of various functional materials such as nanocrystalline, microcrystalline and amorphous alloys, fine magnetic particles, disordered magnetic systems. His research interests include also materials for magnetic refrigeration, electromagnetic processing of materials, energy harvesting and magnetic sensors.
