At the NANOCON´16 conference Prof. Vincenzo Amendola will present the invited lecture at the Session C: Bionanotechnology, Nanomaterials in Medicine: "Laser-generated Doped Au Nanoparticles as Multifunctional Agents for Nanomedicine Applications".


Biography, Education and Employment:
He received a M.S. degree in Materials Science in 2004, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2008 from the University of Padova. Following a postdoctoral appointment, he became assistant professor at Padova University in 2008, and he was promoted to associate professor in 2015.

Amendola was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States (2007), an academic visitor at the Center for Advanced Photonics and Electronics of Cambridge University, United Kingdom (2011), and a short-term visiting researcher at the Department of Clinical Medicine of Trinity College Dublin, Ireland (2014).


Research Interests:
Amendola’s main research area relies in the laser-based synthesis of nanomaterials in liquid environment, from fundamentals to applications in photonics, catalysis and nanomedicine. Special focus is devoted to the development of multifunctional plasmonic nanoparticles and nanoalloys, exploitable as multimodal contrast agents or as theranostic tools. He is expert in the experimental and theoretical investigation of plasmonic properties of metal nanoparticles aimed at the development of “ordinary” and “advanced” photonic phenomena such as plasmonic heating, surface enhanced Raman scattering, magneto-plasmonics or self-healing optical nanosystems.


Awards and Honours:
The Primo Levi prize (2008), the Semerano prize (2008), the Alceste Mion prize (2011), the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Italy Award (2015).
